What is an SAE Web Seminar?
SAE Web Seminars are traditional classroom seminars delivered over the web. Web Seminars are as informative and content-rich as a seminar - but you can participate without ever having to leave your desk. You can log in to the live event from anywhere you have a telephone and a PC with Internet access. Registration is on an individual participant basis.
SAE Web Seminars capitalize on the characteristics of the Web to offer interactive learning. Delivered in one or a series of 90-minute to two-hour sessions, web seminars feature audio delivered by telephone, web-based presentations, interactive question-and-answer, and course-specific online forums for posting of supplemental materials. The live course presentations are recorded and made available for 30 days to those who register by the deadline, including those who are unable to attend on the scheduled dates/times. ANSI/IACET CEUs are awarded when course requirements have been met.
How often is a particular web seminar offered?
Each web seminar is typically offered at least twice per year but customer requests and registration numbers may dictate additional offerings.
How long is a web seminar?
Web Seminars vary in length from a single session to eight sessions. Most web seminar sessions are between 90 and 120 minutes in length. Some web seminars are organized into a series of stand-alone web seminars based on complementary subject matter or a progression of topics. Each web seminar in a series requires separate registration.
What time does a web seminar start?
Web Seminar start times vary and are published with corresponding dates on their respective description pages. In an effort to accommodate as many international time zones as possible, most SAE web seminars are scheduled for late morning, Eastern Time. However, certain topics may favor a specific geographic region based on demand or market concentration.
How do I register?
You may register yourself via the web using the Register button at the top of the webpage next to the date(s) of your choosing. If you need to register someone other than yourself or wish to take advantage of a discount, please contact SAE Customer Service.
Are discounts available for Web Seminars?
Each web seminar has a standard registration fee and a special SAE Member fee. To qualify for the SAE Member registration fee, member dues must be current. In some cases, the member savings off the list price is equal to or greater than an investment in SAE membership. You may wish to join SAE
then register for the web seminar.
SAE also offers a multiple seat discount for web seminars. Register one individual in a particular web seminar at the applicable list or member price, then register as many additional employees from the same company at half off the list price. Many of our web seminars are part of a "series" and offer an additional option - register for one web seminar in the series at the applicable list or member price and then registration for the same person in the related web seminar(s) would be at 50% off the list price. Is there a cut-off date for Web Seminar registration?
Due to the preparation involved for a web seminar, registrations for web seminars are taken until 5:00 p.m. the day before the first session. Each web seminar requires a minimum number of registrants to make it a "go". You are encouraged to register early to ensure that the count is high enough to avoid cancellation.
What do I need to participate in a Web Seminar?
All that is required to participate in a web seminar is a PC with Microsoft Internet Explorer, a web connection and a telephone. Software needed to fully participate is as follows: Adobe© Acrobat Reader for the instructor's presentation; WebEx Training Center to view the live presentation; Windows Media Player to view the recordings.
When will I receive connection instructions?
Instructions on how to prepare for the web seminar will be sent a few days in advance of the web seminar. Final connection instructions will be sent to registered attendees the day before the start.
What does a web seminar session include?
Each web seminar session includes an outline of the session objectives, 90-120 minute live lecture, summaries, interactive polls, and opportunities for questions, answers, and open dialogue.
Do I receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for web seminars?
To qualify for Continuing Education Units, you must participate in all web seminar sessions in their entirety and achieve at least a 70% score in the learning assessment that will be required at the conclusion of the web seminar. Your transcript in the SAE Learning Center will reflect the CEUs you earn for your web seminar participation, as well as for any SAE Professional Development course.
How long will I have access to the recordings, presentation handouts, and learning assessment?
Your access to the course through your Learning Center account will be open for 30 days following the last session of the web seminar. This will allow you to view or review session recordings, download course materials, and participate in the learning assessment to ensure that you meet all course requirements to receive CEUs. We will send you an e-mail halfway through the access period to remind you to complete the course requirements. At the end of 30 days, the course is closed in the Learning Center and no further access can be accommodated. Your participation and any CEUs earned will be reflected in your SAE transcript.
I'm registered for the web seminar but now I can't make one or more of the sessions or need to cancel. What can I do?
The live presentation will be recorded and made available for 30 days to those who are registered, regardless of availability for the live session. If you need to cancel, transfer to a future offering, or designate a substitute, a full refund is issued if you notify SAE at least 14 days prior to the web seminar start date.
If you notify SAE less than 14 days prior, you are charged the full fee or you may:
- Substitute a colleague to take your place in the original offering for no fee.
- Transfer your registration to a future offering scheduled within one year of the original web seminar. A $50.00 fee will apply.
Canceling may reduce group or multi-web seminar discounts. NOTE: SAE reserves the right to cancel web seminar and cannot be held responsible for related costs incurred by registrants other than the registration fee.
