Seminars

SAE seminars are one to three-day short courses on a broad range of topics that address relevant technologies, engineering tools, and management techniques. All seminars are applications-oriented and emphasize an interactive, hands-on style to provide direct job-relevance.

Engineers teaching engineers is another key attribute of SAE Seminars. Whether they're practicing engineers, retired engineers, or university faculty, all instructors come to the classroom with content expertise, industry experience, and on-the-job know how.

You will also network with peers from leading companies in the United States and in many cases, from around the world. All courses include an extensive learning manual of slide reprints and course notes

All seminars are approved for IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and for the professional engineer, Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Certain seminars are approved for Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Currently, each of these delegating organizations manages and conducts a unique training program for individuals responsible for their product release overcheck process. For suppliers producing products for multiple delegating organizations, each must then manage the multiple training requirements.

Photographs and video recordings of vehicle crashes and accident sites are more prevalent than ever, with dash mounted cameras, surveillance footage, and personal cell phones now ubiquitous. The information contained in these pictures and video provide critical information to understanding how crashes occurred, and in analyzing physical evidence. This course teaches the theory and techniques for getting the most out of digital media, including correctly processing raw video and photographs, correcting for lens distortion, and using photogrammetric techniques to convert the information in digital media to usable scaled three-dimensional data.

Every year, the U.S. experiences more than 32,000 traffic deaths and over 3.8 million crash injuries. While the trend in traffic deaths has been downward for the past decade, most of this reduction has been the result of optimizing passive occupant crash protection systems such as seatbelts and airbags. On-board diagnostics, required by governmental regulations, provide a means for reducing harmful pollutants into the environment. Since being mandated in 1996, the regulations have continued to evolve and require engineers to design systems that meet strict guidelines. This one day seminar is designed to provide an overview of the fundamental design objectives and the features needed to achieve those objectives for generic on-board diagnostics.
