SAE seminars are one to three-day short courses on a broad range of topics that address relevant technologies, engineering tools, and management techniques. All seminars are applications-oriented and emphasize an interactive, hands-on style to provide direct job-relevance.

Engineers teaching engineers is another key attribute of SAE Seminars. Whether they're practicing engineers, retired engineers, or university faculty, all instructors come to the classroom with content expertise, industry experience, and on-the-job know how.

You will also network with peers from leading companies in the United States and in many cases, from around the world. All courses include an extensive learning manual of slide reprints and course notes

All seminars are approved for IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and for the professional engineer, Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Certain seminars are approved for Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR) Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

The potential benefits of the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine are numerous and have the potential to combine some of the best features of the Compression Ignition engine with that of the Spark Ignition engine. Fundamentals of crankcase lubrication, including the properties and performance requirements of global base stocks and lubricants will be covered.

Although they draw much less attention, hydraulic hybrid propulsion and regenerative braking systems for road vehicles are a cost effective alternative to electric systems and have relevance to important sectors of the passenger and commercial vehicle markets. In this two-day seminar, hydraulic hybrid vehicle systems and their potential will be examined using model based evaluations.

Most muffler design in the automotive industry is accomplished by using "cut-and-try" methods that rely on what has worked in the past and/or extensive full-scale testing on engines for validation. New computer software aimed at muffler design can shorten the design cycle and yield more effective results. This four hour seminar provides an introduction to the behavior of mufflers and silencers including a description of the two-port approach to muffler design. This seminar covers the acoustic simulation of muffler and silencer systems and the use of experimental methods to measure muffler performance.
