This Academy covers the diesel engine engineering principles and practices necessary to effectively understand a modern diesel engine. Types of engines addressed include naturally aspirated, turbocharged, pre-chamber, open chamber, light duty and heavy duty.

The Engineering Management Academy is designed to provide attendees with a fresh and authentic approach to handling real-world situations in the office, focusing on coaching, mentoring, team building, conflict resolution and interpersonal and communication skills. This Academy covers hybrid and electric vehicle engineering concepts, theory, principles, and practices necessary to understand electrified vehicle powertrains, and will focus on gasoline-electric and diesel-electric hybrids. Many of the subjects also apply to battery electric vehicles.

Automotive Composites Technology
With the significant weight savings associated with composites, it is essential for automotive engineers to become knowledgeable about this technology which may revolutionize the way carbon fiber is used in automobiles and ultimately be instrumental in meeting government mandates for fuel economy. This Academy focuses on carbon fiber composites and will cover typical applications, benefits, shortcomings and limitations. Participants will become familiar with different composites terminology, quality issues, costs and automotive market needs and will gain a holistic understanding of carbon fiber applications.

Powertrain Noise Track
This Engineering Academy covers a variety of vehicle noise control engineering principles and practices. Two specialty tracks are available: Vehicle Interior Noise and Powertrain Noise. While the Vehicle Interior Noise track focuses on the understanding and application of acoustical materials to optimize NVH in the passenger or operator compartment of a vehicle, the Powertrain Noise track focuses on NVH issues generated by powertrain noise sources and the design strategies to minimize them. Noise sources include engines, transmissions/transfer cases, accessories, exhaust, gears, axles, joints, and couplings. Considerable attention is given to current measurement and instrumentation technologies and their effective use.
